Java – should I add a confirm password field to Android?

I'm a novice on Android. I've just started registering for my application. I've found many tutorials like this one

What really puzzles me is that the "confirm / re-enter" password section is skipped in all tutorials, so my question is - is this the Android standard? Do I need to add only one password field to my application?

I think when users sign up for a new account, even Facebook has only one password field

After reading this thread, you should no longer believe that the application needs to enter the password field twice. Only once, with the "forget password?" button
