Eclipse standard or eclipse IDE for Java developers?
What type of developer is each in these ides? Is one ide a superset / subset of another? What can you do with one instead of the other?
I am now looking for a desktop (Windows) based job, so I believe I am right to ignore Java EE download and focus on these two
The comparison of features page is useless because I am still a novice in eclipse and Java For example, "code recommender development tool" means nothing to me
The eclipse standard has been downloaded 1.7 million times, at 246mb (as of September 13) Eclipse IDE for Java developers have downloaded 430000 times, which is 151mb
So I guess eclipse standard is the way to go, but why do they offer a second choice?

Therefore, if your focus is on developing eclipse itself, eclipse standard includes everything you need (including the source of all functions and plug-ins)
If your focus is on Java development (not eclipse plug-ins), you should start with the eclipse IDE for Java developers
If your focus is on Java EE development, it's easier to start with the eclipse IDE for Java EE developers
