Distributed cache with expiration control in Java

The requirement is to cache a large number of (100000 to 1000000) small objects and control the expiration of a single object according to future events There is no time component when it expires

The cache must be available to many application servers (springsource DM server), ideally distributable and fault tolerant

I've been looking at terracotta as a possible solution Is this a good way? Is there anything better?

We have been using terracotta and we are very satisfied with it Its distributed cache with cache Evictors is a good solution to our problem
