Do you try to omit the exceptionlistener setting on the DMLC? I don't remember ever needing to specify it, and after starting connection recovery, it seems that your connection is invalid

In addition, assuming you do not use JBoss 4, you can try to use the built-in caching mechanism of DMLC (set through cachelevel) instead of using the cache connection factory for your consumers; You can even get better performance because DMLC can cache sessions and consumers as well as connections
