Java – is the hardware UUID on the MAC reasonable for licensing

OK, I know that no license scheme can be cracked; I'm not asking for one I have used a method in Java that combines the host MAC address, CPU type and hard drive sequence on windows and Mac OSX to calculate the "hardware fingerprint" However, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and encountered a hardware UUID in the System Profiler. I just want to know whether it is worth using this code on the MAC instead of the code generated by my method, or whether it is not recommended because I am not sure whether it is always available, etc?

If you do suggest that I use it, I would appreciate it if you could also tell me how to access it using Java Also, does windows have UUIDs like I can use?

Thank you in advance

Solution

I guess it's not a good idea Apple has abandoned developers' access to UUIDs in IOS 5, and it won't surprise me to see that this is also the result of OSX
