Java Swing Mac OSX Preferences menu

I'm trying to add the Preferences menu to my java swing application, which proves a little disgusting

In the example I found, I saw a response to com apple. eawt. You can use osxaadapter, which "uses the reflection proxy model to hook existing preferences about and exit functions." See also answer
