Java – web developer wants to learn desktop programming
I am a web developer (Java and cold fusion) who wants to learn to write some simple desktop applications Most of them work for windows, but it's cool to program in programs that can cross platforms
I never really liked desktop programming in Java, although I would like to give it again Any suggestions about what might be a good place to start?
Solution
Personally, I will watch some frameworks like adobe air (Flex), Silverlight (. Net), cappuccino or other RIA frameworks
Many software companies are now looking for the exact opposite: how do we get desktop applications on the network? Or even better, how do we write a set of code for all the platforms we want to locate?
All of these frameworks / toolsets allow you to write a set of code and deploy to many different platforms with little extra work If you know Java, you shouldn't find too many leaps from where you are now
